As the first ever conference to bring together this group of fashion influencers, it only seems natural that we wanted to organize a professional photo shoot with all 19 bloggers. We will partner with a NY-based fashion photographer to capture the distinctly unique and diverse styles of all girls in one group picture. The Gramercy Park Hotel has reserved the lobby and lounge area of the hotel for this specific event.
All 19 bloggers will receive passes for a ride on the famous NYC double decker bus tour, which will take them through some of the city's most famous neighborhoods. Attractions will include Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Carnegie Hall, Broadway Theatre District, Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall Street, South Street Seaport and much more.
Brooklyn is filled with an amazing selection of boutique, thrift and vintage shop options. All 19 bloggers will start their tour at the enormous Beacon's Closet where they will have an abundance of designer and vintage bargains to sift through. After that, some other stops will include Housingworks, Brooklyn Flea, Salvation Army and various boutiques.
These days, fashion is all about being creative with one's budget. We love seeing how so many girls can create and discover their own style through DIY fashion - recycling and re-fashioning anything they can get their hands on. Whether the original piece is old, new, gifted, thrifted or vintage, we are challenging all 19 bloggers to a DIY Challenge after their day of shopping in Brooklyn. The idea is to take something old and something new to create a look of one's own. Each blogger has already contributed at least one tutorial and how-to DIY technique, which will be printed out in booklets for everyone attending. The venue will provide basic sewing supplies and miscellaneous DIY materials for each blogger.
We are excited to be partnering with Craig Arend of Altamira NYC, who has been featured on Style.com, Elle.com and regularly on the pages of Teen Vogue. He started taking photos of people on the street in 2006 and then started Altamira a year later - now one of the most well-known and respected street style fashion photography blogs. He will be shooting all 19 bloggers individually on the sidewalks of Soho, and will share tips on how to best capture an outfit with given surroundings and outdoor lighting.
A couple years ago, most people had no idea what blogs were, let alone thought that fashion blogs would become since a large and influential phenomenon. Now that fashion blogging has become more prevalent, it is more difficult to find one's unique voice through all the noise. While all 19 bloggers attending the conference have incredibly different approaches to blogging as well as individual styles, they have all been able to build their blog into something bigger. During this workshop, we will discuss site design best practices, increasing blog traffic, fashion blogger communities, and blog monetization. Each blogger will have an opportunity to contribute their tips and tricks to how they developed their personal fashion blogs. We are incredibly excited to have Tumblr as a proud sponsor of this event.
Soho offers the ultimate shopping theme park, with designer stores and eclectic boutiques lining each street. All 19 bloggers will be given an American Express gift card to get their shopping spree off to a healthy start. Each blogger is encouraged to purchase a plethora of goodies, all of which they will style up and blog about when they get back to hotel later that evening.
In order to end the conference on a memorable note, all 19 bloggers will receive passes to a Circle Line boat cruise. This event will be a fun and relaxing way to see the New York City skyline one last time together as group. During the cruise, the group will enjoy a humorous and informative tour given by professional guides.
