This was me getting dressed up to go out...then staying in with my buddy to watch Lady Gaga videos all over and over again, trying to learn the choreography. As for the shoes, I am in love! Every time they catch my eye, I have to smile because they look like jewelry on my feet. I totally lucked out and managed to nab a pair, as they seem to be selling out everywhere.

You never know how versatile a piece of clothing can be until you get a chance to play around with it. I never would have thought of this zipper top as essential, but it's safe to say that now I firmly believe it is. I'm enamored with the scuba-like quality of the zipper and the wonderful bright color. So many possibilities...

Initially, I was Hell-bent on a white one, but I was looking at my Helmut Lang tunic the other day, imagining its infinite possibilities, when the light bulb went off that a black one was already within my grasp. And I love how wearing a strapless dress underneath shows off the spinal shape of the tunic. I have a confession to make: I'm not usually a huge fan of leopard print. I do enjoy touches of it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to actually purchase a piece for my own. This all changed the day I saw this incredible robe thing in a vintage shop in New Orleans. I feel like the particularly tacky rendition of the leopard print, combined with the red leaf design that could easily be mistaken for flames, not to mention 100% nylon composition make this a piece I can wear again and again. I also suspect I will serve me well when I'm a crazy old lady living with my many many cats. www.districtofchic.com
