Because colored denim is fresh! I am loving purple and green for summer/spring. These are on loan from the office. When doing something reallybold keep your other elements rather neutral. Like a crazy printed blouse. You’re sensing the sarcasm. Right?
No matter how you mix it up, just don’t get delusional and think you’re rainbow bright. Keep your colorcard minimal.

Why:
As far as trends go- the boyfriend jean has been around for a while, although after seeing it on Katie Holmes and Posh Spice (actually wearing boy jeans), I thought I’d give it a whirl. These are just an old pair that are two sizes too big that I rolled up at the hem. I really tried to peg leg them, because bringing back the peg roll would be awesome. Fashion rolls over and over on itself and skinny jeans used to be called tapered pants and everyone was like “oh no! never again! but, I digress. Anyways, its been chilly in the evenings so I’ve paired a little cardigan over a vintage cami and thrown on heels (to make the look more femme) and a necklace.

I’ve been really looking foward to wearing this skirt that I picked up at Concordia Thrift in Fort Wayne, Indiana last Christmas. It was $2.50!! They have the best stuff and everything is really really cheap. Too many “thrift†stores are becoming way too expensive. If its not really highly collected vintage and advertised as a vintage store, I’m not down to pay high prices. This whole outfit was really cheap, minus the coat which is years old anyway. Another example of how you can work a current trend and still go easy on your pocketbook.

Today I’m supporting Barack Obama for President of the United States. I voted at 6 am this morning and by tonight, I’ll be able to say this is one of the best days of my life. I looked forward to this morning like a child on Christmas Eve. I am so grateful to be able to vote and have a candidate that so closely mirrors my views.

Why:
I like the idea of being inspired and copying what I see in blogs or in magazines. In highschool it was a big faux pas to buy something once another girl had already sported it. Now, I think copying someone’s look or idea is flattering (unless of course, they are copying and claiming an original idea). Today’s outfit idea started with the December issue of Lucky and a feature on oversized houndstooth. Although this skirt (worn as a dress) isn’t exactly houndstooth, it has the same feel. I love the dramatic, loosely woven pattern. I bought the skirt 2 or so years ago, and its too big to wear as such now, so I’m wearing it sort of as a jumper.

I just had an urge to wear this skirt— its one of my favorites. Maybe because I was working on designing some pieces yesterday with my co-worker Courtney, I subconsciously wanted to wear it. I guess she did too.
This is something I’ve had out to wear on a warmer day… Today’s in the 50s and its perfect!! I like the unusual mint/fuchsia pairing… as for weird color combination, you’ll be seeing a lot from me this spring
