La Vie en Rose

My mom bought this blazer for me eons ago and I refused to wear it, because I deemed it "uncool." I unearthed it recently and of course I love it now. Glad I didn't trash it!

Two-Tone

I'm such a fan of two-tone footwear, it's not even funny. I recently got these shoes from Solestruck and they inspired me to dress all Blair-Waldorf-like. Interestingly enough, more than one of my male friends complemented me on them - no idea what that means, but it thought I'd share anyway.

I took forever DIY-ing these jeans, but I'm really pleased with how they turned out. I really wanted to get the cloudy effect of the Balmain jeans I've seen, so I used rag dipped in high efficiency bleach to get more variations of color.

Texarkana

I've been having so much fun playing around with all my old American Indian jewelry lately. The bolo tie is actually my husband's, but I think it makes for a fabulous necklace. I've been pretty obsessed with the spring Givenchy western tuxedo style looks and this was one of my ways of interpreting those.

Had Wine Club on Saturday so this was my outfit. I like to dress festively for the occasion :-)

I was unsure of this biker short trend at first, but Stylish Wanderer and Stylorectic have shown me the light. Now I wear them with just about everything.

land of hope and gloria

Sooo hot on Sunday. B and I braved the Georgetown Flea Market and I got this tiny little cowboy boot pendant (slightly visible above) and a sweet pair of vintage sunglasses I'll have to photograph soon. This tank was included with a Topshop order a while ago and it didn't really fit quite right. The scissors solved that. More to see on my blog :-)

I don't mind your ritzing me drinking your lunch out of a bottle

This is my rainy day, lounging outfit. I'm in love with this incredible sweater/robe hybrid thing. Kind of feel like it needs to be accessorized with a dry martini and a cigarette holder. www.districtofchic.com

gimme some sugar, baby

A blizzard hits DC the day I'm supposed to leave on my ski vacation - the irony is not lost on me. Hopefully we'll make it out today, but I'm not holding my breath. After learning my flight was canceled (on Friday, no snow had hit the ground yet), I decided sledding was going to be an integral part of keeping my sanity during this whole debaucle. And it was. DC can be a lot of fun when we get a big dump of snow. My friends and I had a great time tromping around the neighborhood, testing the limits of my antique-quality Flexible Flyer (which I should have photographed), and marveling at some horrific moments in driving decisions. Later on, I went to a friends' holiday party, feeling very smug about my ability to reconcile holiday party dress and snow-appropriate footwear. My (very) small successes with practicality always make me feel clever. www.districtofchic.com

alpine-y

I love these boots, because they remind me of the old-fashioned lace-up ski boots that one sees mounted on walls from time to time. I guess that thought (and the setting) kind of inspired me to run with the Alpine-inspired look. www.districtofchic.com
