I got this trench coat in Paris and it's quite possibly the most practical thing I've bought. However, that doesn't count for much because I'm not a practical shopper.
And the shoes are a recent Yoox splurge. I love them and I intend to work them into every outfit I possibly can.
This was my opera-going outfit. I guess I was feeling opulent. I love this blouse and I'm surprised I haven't worn it sooner, as it is has been waiting patiently in my closet for quite some time now.
So this is something you'll rarely see... a work outfit. Yes, I do not usually bore you with my mundane corporate uniforms, but I thought this one warranted a photo or two (mainly for the shoes' sake).
I had my first "blogger meet up" on Saturday with Laura and Megan of chicfaced. Being able to meet up in person with two local bloggers that I enjoy reading so much was a refreshing experience. We all thought it was funny to be so familiar with someone, but to have never have met them face to face. Anyway, it was interesting to talk about what inspired us to start our blogs, speculate as to who Anna Wintour really is, and marvel at the way the blogosphere has totally dominated fashion week this year. Good times.

I guess this would be the "night" half of a day-to-night look from Saturday (day half seen here: http://www.districtofchic.com/2009/09/if-it-werent-for-double-standards-i.html ). I liked the fancy feel of the top, so it wasn't too difficult to dress it up for going out. Hmm... I kind of wish I had something exciting to tell you, like "I saw Karl Lagerfeld riding the metro and neither of us had a pen with which he could autograph my forehead, so he gave me one of his rings instead," but that would that would be a untrue. Better luck next time. More on my blog: www.districtofchic.com

This is my rainy day, lounging outfit. I'm in love with this incredible sweater/robe hybrid thing. Kind of feel like it needs to be accessorized with a dry martini and a cigarette holder. www.districtofchic.com
I have a confession to make: I'm not usually a huge fan of leopard print. I do enjoy touches of it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to actually purchase a piece for my own. This all changed the day I saw this incredible robe thing in a vintage shop in New Orleans. I feel like the particularly tacky rendition of the leopard print, combined with the red leaf design that could easily be mistaken for flames, not to mention 100% nylon composition make this a piece I can wear again and again. I also suspect I will serve me well when I'm a crazy old lady living with my many many cats.
