Painted Nights
It's finally warm out so I can wear warm weather dresses again!

I've been pretty obsessed with the black and gold color combo as of late. And I'm most excited about my new badass leather skirt - definitely going to be making it's way through regular rotation.
This was what I wore for my husband's birthday. It was a nice excuse to dress up! I love this skirt because it can make almost every top look polished. I thought it might be fun to mix it up with an edgy mesh top.
This incredible piece is courtesy of the Weardrobe Closet and it has given me a whole new perspective on the bubble hem. In the past, I haven't been so much a fan, but the added volume in the skirt gives this piece such an interesting shape, don't you think? The fabric is quite cool, as well. It's kind of a chambray. Needless to say, I am in love and will have to hope and pray I can find a similar creation on Topshop now.

Like most of the fashion universe right now, I've been inspired by Givenchy's Fall Couture show (and pretty much everything else Ricardo Tisci churns out as of late), so when I saw this Complex Geometries piece in the Weardrobe Closet, I knew I had to try it with lace-up boots. It also prompted me to check out more Complex Geometries pieces. As you might assume from the name, the line has so many magnificently-shaped pieces. I'm now making it my mission to add one to my closet.
I had my first "blogger meet up" on Saturday with Laura and Megan of chicfaced. Being able to meet up in person with two local bloggers that I enjoy reading so much was a refreshing experience. We all thought it was funny to be so familiar with someone, but to have never have met them face to face. Anyway, it was interesting to talk about what inspired us to start our blogs, speculate as to who Anna Wintour really is, and marvel at the way the blogosphere has totally dominated fashion week this year. Good times. More on my blog: www.districtofchic.com

I went absolutely bonkers at H&M the other day. I can't get over how many amazing Fall pieces they have for under the $50 mark. I even saw a few things on my way out the door which have been haunting my dreams since I left. These snake print jeans were in the H&M Fall "magazine" and I marked a giant star next to them the moment I laid eyes upon them, so I guess it was meant to be. However, they fit so much better than I would have expected. I might even go out on a limb and say they rival the fit of my much-loved J Brands... More on my blog www.districtofchic.com

This is my rainy day, lounging outfit. I'm in love with this incredible sweater/robe hybrid thing. Kind of feel like it needs to be accessorized with a dry martini and a cigarette holder. www.districtofchic.com
So looking at these pictures gave me a whole new perspective on this Christopher Kane for Topshop purse. It really reminds me of one of those bags traditionally worn with a kilt (Wikipedia tells me this is called a sporran). Anyway, I didn't have any particular direction when I put this outfit together, but I kind of like the Western/Victorian/Gothic vibe that I ended up with. Oh and I finally remembered to get a close-up of the locket thing that I wear all the time. Another thought: I was less than thrilled about the belt that came with these shorts when I first bought them. I'm glad I gave them a second chance. www.districtofchic.com
