what: thanksgiving dinner outfit why: this outfit is designed for eating and keeping warm- everything is layered and comfy, perfect for both goals- the strangely amorphous, shapeless tent dress works well as a lower layer to hide the food i'm storing up and the hoodie brings it all together and hides the shapelessness well!
what: brunch in hoboken, nj why: i love mixing complementary colors in my outfits, but i always stay away from green & red...unless its holiday season, then i just blend right in!
why: me and Rudolph totally match!

when: 8 january 2009 what: assorted errands on my first day back in motion in the new year, so of course, i had to rock a well invested 2009 purchase: $15 black sweater dress from express. this year i will only buy items that i will wear immediately, so voila!

when: 9 january 2009 what: i had a very early breakfast meeting this morning in my neighborhood and threw this together very quickly. the plaid shirt is actually from a kid's store, i was completely enamored by it when i saw it in a window display over the summer and immediately scooped it up. the turtleneck under button down look was inspired by a recent bit of style advice in glamour magazine, but they were going for a more chic polished look with a suit and a black against white combo, i'll be trying that when i have to wear my suits again, but here the result is very 1990's grade school, but i like it anyway. the february issue of lucky that i was pouring over last night had similar advice about summer peasant tops + turtlenecks and i think i'll be trying that tonight when i go out, turtlenecks feel just so perfect when it's this frigid out!
when: 9 january 2009 what: a fun filled evening of art galleries, dinner, and catching up with friends why: lately i've been wearing these super comfortable and super warm plush boots everywhere- my newest obsession is wearing them with my thigh-high cable knit socks from american apparel, this pretty much the warmest combo i've ever landed on- and this time i layered a pair of leggings under the socks- it added dimension since the gray leggings peeked through the socks in just the right lighting and kept me incredibly cozy!
when: 12 january 2009 what: running around for errands and catching up with friends why: i love how purple and yellow compliment each other- and with brown and gray accents the look is very fresh for a winter color palette
when: 15 january 2009 what: school daze why: it's officially freezing in nyc- so i just wanted to layer up as much as possible, i'm wearing 2 pairs of tights PLUS cable knit socks over them- up top, i have a turtleneck with 2 super thick cozy sweaters that don't match- but it seems to work because they're textured in a similar way and both have black & purple undertones
