Where: Work Why: I like the idea of being inspired and copying what I see in blogs or in magazines. In highschool it was a big faux pas to buy something once another girl had already sported it. Now, I think copying someone’s look or idea is flattering (unless of course, they are copying and claiming an original idea). Today’s outfit idea started with the December issue of Lucky and a feature on oversized houndstooth. Although this skirt (worn as a dress) isn’t exactly houndstooth, it has the same feel. I love the dramatic, loosely woven pattern. I bought the skirt 2 or so years ago, and its too big to wear as such now, so I’m wearing it sort of as a jumper.

Where: Office Why: Wow. It. Is. Cold. After waking up way late and chilly I had to think fast on what I was going to throw together. I knew I wanted to wear tights, so I doubled up with two pairs of thick, opaque, black pairs. Black skirt- check. Boots- check. Then layering up the sweaters for optimum warmth. I’m mad for scarves all winter long (ditto for hats and gloves). This is another example of something I’d throw on when I have no time (running half hour + late), i.e.- everyday wear. Also check out the belt— sometimes belts are too big when you want to wear them at both your hips and your waist. No problem— just slide the metal tongue to the side and pull tight!

Where: Work Why: I started watching the first season of Mad Men last night on DVD. I think the outfit sort of speaks for itself.

Where: Work Why: With three inches of snow on the ground, I knew I’d be wearing my boots. Sometimes I try to match a similar green into the look, but today I wanted to go with something bold and bright to contrast against the snow. This ultra bright and beautiful purple skirt fit the bill. Just like the first time I wore it, I feel so totally Joan Holloway today (style icon!). The hat was a neat swap too— I went to a Rubix Cube Party a year or so again and dressed all Roy G Biv. As the party progressed, everyone aimed for a color. I can’t remember what I swapped for this vintage green hat, but I’m stoked I got it! I’ve also realized— I look so young when I smile like that!!
