I shot these photos last weekend when I was out at the Dumbo Flea. (Dumbo is an acronym to describe the Brooklyn neighborhood that sits down under the Manhattan bridge overpass – if ya don’t know, now ya know.) There’s just something that seems so “perfect fall weekend day in the city” about going and poking around a great flea market. If you don’t have a sweetie to wander around with you, you suddenly want one…if you don’t have a cute New York loft to decorate with antiques and unique finds, well you suddenly want one of those too. mrnewton.net
Although black is the color of winter par excellence and also one of my favorites, we can always add color to our outfits. I love going entirely in black and wearing a piece of color, in this case I chose a pink shirt, but any garment or accessory is perfect (a bag, shoes ...) to make a dark and monotone outfit into something special. xoxo PEEPTOES! http://lovingmypeeptoes.blogspot.com
On a recent beautiful fall morning in New York – her muted color combination seemed perfectly suited for the brief quiet time when the early morning garbage trucks have finished, but most shops have not yet opened for the day. Love the modern-yet-uber-feminine layering and the haircut too…xx mrnewton.net
i made this DIY vest/bib thing out of an old tee shirt and some trim- i cut the tee into a shape that ties around the neck and around the waist, and just sewed scraps of frilly trim all over it. speaking of scraps, the crochet thing around the top of my skirt is a table runner i got in a junk shop. this skirt wrinkles like crazy, so i'm using the table runner to cover up the worst parts. http://theowlsarenotwhattheyseem.tumblr.com
