1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm Indiana Adams, and I live in Austin, Texas. I act and write, full-time. I married an insanely good-looking and incredibly charming computer nerd/ musician. My dog cracks me up, and my garden is doing well. If I had a pet fawn or an unlimited supply of sno-cones, I'd be living the dream!
2. Why did you start blogging?
I had a blog about acting that was doing well, but I was "gently encouraged" by my agent to cut it out. Something about "directors don't want you blogging" and "you want people to take you seriously" and blah blah blah. Around that same time I was reading like 20 personal style blogs because I love fashion. Finally one day last winter I was like, "I miss blogging. I love clothes. I should do that for a blog and find a way to keep it funny." And ta-da! Thus Adored Austin came into the world.
3. Where do you gain your style inspiration?
Holy smokes! Have you seen some of the Weardrobe users and their own fashion blogs? I love how people have chosen to put together an outfit and then share it with the world. I'm always impressed by the combos people come up with and the unique vintage goods people have resurected. Also, the people here in Austin are a huge inspiration. The style here is so eclectic, and the heat forces us to be creative with our summer wear. A ten minute stroll down South Congress would give anyone enough inspiration for the next month!
4. How has your style changed over the years?
My style is just as bananas now as it was when I was a kid. Did you ever see that movie "Big Daddy"? I was a lot like the little kid "Frankenstein" in it. My family never picked out my clothes for me. They just let me wear what I want-- so sometimes that meant I wore a grass skirt with rain boots to school or my grandpa's size XXXL suit jacket. I pretty much do the same kind of stuff now except on a more socially acceptable for an adult level.
5. How do you decide what goes in/out of your closet?
Getting in is hard: I don't buy it unless I love it, and I don't usually buy anything that same day. If I keep thinking about it the next day, I'll go back for it, but only if I can't stop thinking about it. Getting out is even harder since nostalgia plays a huge part in what I wear. Memories get connected to my clothes, so I only get rid of pieces that don't fit well or that aren't in good condition anymore.
6. What piece from your wardrobe do you wear the most? Have had the longest?
In the winter, there's a long, grey Kimchi & Blue sweater that I live in. It goes with everything and it's incredibly soft and comfortable. Frankly, I'm surprised it's only shown up in my daily photos only twice. SO FAR. Just you wait!
My mom's vintage Gucci tote is something that's only been in my possession for a year or so, but it's been a part of my childhood memories for FOREVER. In fact, it's the only purse I can remember my mom using when I was a kid. I can't believe she was just going to throw it away! I'm so glad I looked in her rubbish pile last year! Who the heck throws away GUCCI?!
7. What general fashion advice would you give to other girls your age?
Fit is everything. If it doesn't fit you in a flattering, comfortable way, don't buy it and don't let it take up any of your precious closet space.
